The Khozinatul Asror, written by Jalaluddin Qdur-Ra'ouf Bornuvi, is a book of Hadith and Islamic law. It contains many stories and hadiths on Muslim women's lives during the time of the Prophet Muhammad. Jalaluddin Qdur-Ra'ouf Bornuvi (possibly 1321-1333 AD) was an Arab author from Borno State in Nigeria. He was born in small town of Gugeji near Lake Chad. He wrote his book "Khozinatul Asror" at the age of 27 or 28 years old, and seems to have died some years before 1371 AD judging from its style and content. He was a student of the famous Maliki scholar Muhammad ibn al-Hasan al-Kurtubi (1233 - 1320 AD), who was instrumental in the development of the Maliki school. Jalaluddun Qdur-Ra'ouf Bornuvi began to write his book "Khozinatul Asror" in 1357 AD, when he was 36 years old. He wrote it in Arabic, and finished it around three years later, in thirteen months . It has 902 pages and 1807 lines. The main subject of the book is Islam, including Islamic Law (Sharia). The book is divided into two parts. The first part contains hadiths on women's issues, social life, marriage, family life, social life of the Prophet Muhammad and his companions. It contains 38 chapters. The second part has 81 chapters on jurisprudence concerning inheritance, law of property, law of witnesses etc. The book is important in the history of Islam because it is the first contemporary book written by an Arab author about women's life during the time of Muhammad. It can be considered an early example of Muslim feminism. The author was born in 1321 AD, and died around 1333 AD. He studied under al-Kurtubi, and seems to have prepared the book with his teacher's help. His style has influences from his teacher's writings, with some additions or revisions of his own. It is thought that he revised the original text by al-Kurtubi with some additions, and then wrote it in Arabic in 1357 AD. The book is in Arabic, and can be downloaded from the Internet in PDF format. A contemporary English translation of the second part of this book has been written by Muhammad Abu Zahra (died 1990) and published by Islamic Publications Limited, Bolton. The main subject of the "Khozinatul Asror" is Muslim women's life during the time of Muhammad. The author also mentions different stories of his teachers, especially al-Kurtubi. His teacher seems to have had an important role in writing it; although although he did not write any book of his own, he studied under many scholars who wrote historical books like Tabari (839–923) etc. cfa1e77820
